Belinda, the founder of Support on the Spectrum, brings 15 years of experience as a social worker, with a deep passion for supporting families through challenging times. Her extensive background spans health and aged care, cancer, and palliative care, where she has dedicated herself to guiding families through difficult conversations, illness adjustments, and finding meaning and connection.
After taking time off to raise her three children, Belinda's life took a transformative turn when she discovered that two of her children are neurodiverse. This personal experience led her to engage in therapy and navigate the complexities of the NDIS. Recognising the gap in support services, she leveraged her professional and personal insights to establish Support on the Spectrum over a year ago.
In the past year, Belinda has been privileged to support numerous families, spanning all ages—from young children in kindergarten to teenagers, young adults, and mature participants. Her approach addresses the pressure neurodiversity can impose on both individuals and their families, offering tailored support across various life stages.
Belinda’s commitment is driven by her passion for helping families achieve their goals. She identified a significant gap in the NDIS system concerning psychological and social support, liaison, and advocacy. With this in mind, she created Support on the Spectrum to fill this void and provide meaningful assistance to those in need.
Belinda utilises a strengths-based, Ecosystemic approach, ensuring each client receives support that is not only effective but also empowering.
